ABOUT THE TRAINING

Why This, Why Now?

This training was created in response to what so many of us in clinical practice are witnessing: racial trauma.

Discrimination, prejudice, microaggressions, deportations, family separations, war and displacement are rampant among BIPOC and immigrant communities. This 3-hour professional training explores race-based traumatic stress (RBTS), its symptoms, and the interventions used to treat it and lead clients toward personal liberation.

In this training:

Participants will examine how Dialectical Behavior Therapy's skills have been meaningfully adapted for clients navigating racism and systemic oppression.

We will also explore what it means to decolonize our evidence-based practices. Racism itself functions as an extreme invalidating environment for BIPOC clients, and our clinical frameworks must reflect that reality.

Alongside these DBT skills, participants will learn and brainstorm ways to bring holistic exercises into their clinical practice.

What you'll learn:

You'll be to Name It, See It, and Respond to It
