Burnout & Employment Stress

In this Burnout & Stress presentation, Sofia focuses on defining and identifying signs of burnout with the self and staff. She also discusses the science of stress, threat and danger, and how to effectively manage stress. She complements the presentation with holistic and evidence based methods of releasing stress from our bodies and creating a plan for burnout recovery at home and at work.

Maternal Mental Health 101 & Mommy Hope Kit

In this presentation, Sofia offers an overview of Maternal Mental Health, considerations, signs and symptoms. She also provides a Mommy Hope Kit for expectant mothers to use when crafting their pre and post Mental Health Birth Plan with 100+ ways of coping and recommendations.

The Role of Values in your Vision Board

This is not your regular Vision Board Workshop. Sofia helps participants identify crucial values for the life they want to live and take steps toward crafting that life with all five senses (including visually for the vision board).

Mindfulness Activities for Kids (and those who love them)

In her early career, Sofia specialized in child and adolescent mental health. She used many creative ways of teaching mindfulness and stress management skills to children and those who love them the most: their caregivers! In this workshop, Sofia draws from her children's workbook, "Breathing Butterflies" and "Respirando Como las Mariposas," which offer several easy and practical ways of implementing mindfulness techniques to strengthen the attention muscle that contributes to being intentionally present and many other benefits. This training is offered to providers as well.

Robot Calm: Book Reading for Kids (and those who love them)

Sofia engages children and families in talking about feelings, normalizing the fact that all of our nervous systems work a little differently, and learning calming strategies – straight from the Robots themselves. Sofia engages participants in creating their own robot as a physical reminder of the coping tools they learned that day. Something they hold, look at, and remember: I know how to calm down. I have tools.

What people say after a training

The environment she created felt so warm and safe, and connecting with other moms made me feel so supported and prepared. I actually updated my birth plan and postpartum mental health plan using the 100+ Ways of Coping Resource, so helpful!

I love the use of DBT as a framework, the science and decolonial lens also. Thank you for providing us clinicians/helpers with these tools. It helps me feel more confident doing the work!
Participant, When Fear Becomes Reality
[Robot Calm] is a great tool for parents to help their kiddos practice calming and centering techniques so that the inevitable blowup or meltdown isn't as explosive as it can be, and the recovery back to "normal" state is much quicker. The activities contained can be done in such a way that lessons are embedded without seeming to be too didactic. Plus the images are fun!
